Analyst calls for pan-Armenian consolidation to repatriate Artsakh leaders
Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan has called for a pan-Armenian consolidation to repatriate Artsakh’s current and formers leaders from Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani authorities have arrested and charged Artsakh’s three former presidents Arayik Harutyunyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arkady Ghukasyan, former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, presidential advisor David Babayan, parliament speaker David Ishkhanyan, as well as a former Artsakh army commander and his deputy.
"Artsakh’s future largely depends on how we, as a nation, deal with the fact that the leaders of the second Armenian state are imprisoned in a hostile country,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“Armenians from around the world should join forces now and fight for the release of Bako Sahakyan, Arkady Ghukasyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, David Ishkhanyan, Ruben Vardanyan, David Manukyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan and David Babayan as soon as possible.
“If we want to earn the right to fight for Artsakh in the future, let alone demand a status for it, this struggle must not stop for a second,” the analyst stressed.
