Armenian pro-government MP reaffirms commitment to peace agenda
Karen Hambardzumyan, an MP from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party, says the authorities will continue to push for peace with Azerbaijan despite the latest fatal shooting.
Azerbaijani forces opened fire on Armenian combat posts in Syunik Province early on Tuesday, killing four Armenian soldiers and wounding another.
"Yes, of course," Hambardzumyan, a Syunik native, told reporters in the National Assembly in response to a question whether the authorities continue to stick to their peace agenda in the current conditions.
"In this regard, we need to understand what the problem was, how it started," the MP added.
