Opposition MP slams Pashinyan's government for border process
Despite the broad public discontent with and distrust of the border delimitation and demarcation process with Azerbaijan involving unilateral territorial concessions made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government, the latter proceeds with its “dirty work”, says opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan.
Protests started in Armenia on 19 April after the Armenian authorities announced a border delimitation agreement with Azerbaijan which will gain control of four villages in Tavush Province.
"The ongoing works and statements indicate that in parallel with “defining borders”, the authorities have apparently launched a process of replacing military forces with border guards in the area, with engineering work underway in the rear," Abrahamyan, the opposition Pativ Unem faction secretary, posted on Facebook on Monday.
"Amid a lack of legitimacy, the authorities have embarked on a process, which will make the country dependent on Azerbaijan in the long run, while all further steps will be carried out in line with Azerbaijan's political fantasies," the MP stated.
