Hydromet service chief reports increase in Sevan water level
Armenia’s Lake Sevan has experienced a year-on-year increase in water, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center chief reports.
“As of May 22, the water level of Lake Sevan was 5 cm above last year's level,” Levon Azizyan said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, he reported a negative trend regarding irrigation water withdrawals from the lake.
“Last year, irrigation withdrawals from Lake Sevan started on May 14, but no such decision has been made yet this year,” Azizyan said, adding the amount of water delivered to the lake through the Arpa-Sevan Tunnel was 99.69 million m³, twice as much as last year.
