Deputy FM: Yerevan, Baku still disagree on some issues
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan says that differences remain with Azerbaijan over the draft text of a peace treaty.
“The parties still disagree on some issues, but we see an opportunity to bring these positions closer,” he told reporters on Monday, adding talks with Azerbaijan continue.
Kostanyan stated that the government remained focused on the issue of Armenian prisoners held in Baku, with efforts underway to secure their release.
In response to the remark that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expresses optimism about the conclusion of a peace agreement with Armenia, at the same time making new threats against the country, the deputy minister replied: “Armenia remains committed to the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan We believe that it is the positive messages that promote the peace process and prepare the peoples of the two countries [for peace].”
