ARF accuses authorities of targeting donors

The opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) charged on Wednesday that investigative bodies have begun harassing donors of opposition parties, calling the move part of a broader campaign of political persecution.

In a statement, the ARF Armenia Supreme Body said the government, facing a “legitimacy crisis,” has escalated pressure on opponents by using law enforcement “as a tool of repression.”

The group alleged that investigators have unlawfully detained and interrogated party members, supporters and citizens who made donations in accordance with legal requirements. It contrasted this with “clear evidence” of the ruling Civil Contract party benefiting from illicit income and abusing state resources during the June 7 parliamentary elections.

Warning that these actions violate Armenia’s Constitution and undermine democratic foundations, the ARF urged international organizations and observer missions to deliver impartial assessments of authoritarian practices.

The party vowed that its members and supporters would not be intimidated by “fabricated interrogations,” pledging to continue their struggle “for a lawful, democratic and secure Armenia.”
