Vladimir Akopian named U.S. Senior Chess Champion

Armenian-American GM Vladimir Akopian has become the 2026 U.S. Senior Chess Champion, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.

GM Vladimir Akopian and GM Alexander Onischuk scored 6.5 points out of 9. The winner was decided in a playoff, which Akopian won 3-1.

"Congratulations to GM Vladimir Akopian, and we wish him many more victories!" the federation said.
