Armenian wrestlers shine with perfect start at U17 World Championships in Baku
Armenian wrestlers delivered a flawless performance on the opening day of the Under-17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, recording only victories across their bouts.
In the men’s 80kg category, Vahe Hoveyan defeated his Hungarian opponent 5-1 in the round of 16, advancing to the quarterfinals after an earlier win against Georgia’s Buglishvili, the Wrestling Federation of Armenia reported.
Khachik Khachatryan, competing in the 110kg division, opened his campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Latvia’s representative.
Vazgen Mnatsakanyan advanced to the quarterfinals in the 65kg class following a 5-2 win against his Kyrgyz opponent.
Ararat Avetisyan staged a confident comeback in the 48kg category, securing his place in the semifinals. Both Avetisyan and Mnatsakanyan will now contest for a spot in the finals.
