US seeks to Balkanize Middle East – activist
The United States is seeking to Balkanize the strategically-important region of Middle East through launching wars and igniting conflicts, says a commentator.
Ken Stone, with the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War from Ontario, told Press TV in an interview that the US foreign policy has been focused on Balkanizing the troubled region in recent decades.
“They (Americans) would like to redraw all borders in the Middle East and Balkanize all those countries,” Stone said.
The analyst added that the US-led wars have spread insecurity and chaos across several countries of the region.
“The whole focus of the US foreign policy in the Middle East has been to bring insecurity and inutility,” he added.
Commenting on the US assistance to the ISIL terrorist group, the analyst said the United States and its “client states” such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some other Arab monarchies were training and financing the militants.
Washington has fueled the ISIL militancy in order to return to Iraq, and to overthrow the legitimate government of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the analyst noted.
The issue of terrorism will be over within some months if the United States and its allies withdraw their support for these terrorist groups, he stated.
Stone also suggested that the US should coordinate its efforts through the United Nations with other countries such as Russia, China, and Iran to combat terrorism within the framework of the international law.
