Expert says Turkey not ready to become EU member
A new stage is being launched after Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan traveled to Turkey, Ruben Safrastyan, the director of Oriental Studies Institute told the reporters today. The second stage supposes that the documents should be ratified, which is a difficult process demanding serious efforts.
“I guess, this is going to be a difficult round also, and it will demand serious efforts from either sides,” expert said.
Expert says it is difficult to forecast anything, but he is sure the results will not be soon, as Turkey will try to use any speculation to have pressure on Armenia.
“Anyway our diplomacy should be careful and ready to assume any sort of developments,” Mr. Safrastyan stressed. According to Ruben Safrastyan Turkey chases for EU membership and a significant source of energy for Europe.
“To conclude, Turkey is not ready to become EU member. Turkey does not correspond to European standards,” Safrastyan said.
