Galust Sahakyan meets with Georgian President, Prime Minister
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan discussed interstate cooperation in the cultural, political and economic fields at a meeting with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili on Tuesday as part of his official visit to Georgia.
During a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Mr Sahakyan noted that clear directions are formed in trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, in particular in the fields of transport, energy, tourism and agriculture. He highlighted the uninterrupted operation of the Upper Lars checkpoint.
Also, Galust Sahakyan asked the Georgian PM to facilitate the granting of permanent residence permit to Armenian citizens living in Georgia who left to work abroad and received citizenship of other countries. He said that as a result of the legislative changes in Georgia, they are in a difficult situation as they cannot live permanently with their families.
Mr Garibashvili said for his part that the Armenian parliamentary delegation’s official visit to Georgia is evidence of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
Speaking about the legislative changes regarding visa procedures in Georgia, Garibashvili said that Georgia received a work plan in connection with the signing of the Association Agreement and the new visa regulations are related to it. He promised to resolve the matter.
