Azerbaijani news reports: All Azerbaijani MFA employees who liked their colleague’s status about corrupt officials are fired
On the directive of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, all the diplomats and staffers who had liked the status of the now former ambassador of the country to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Arif Mammadov, about the corrupt officials, have been fired, Haqqin.az reports citing informed sources.
Among the dismissed employees of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry are: Javid Musayev, Anar Madatli, Farah Gozalova and Hikmet Hajiyev. Yesterday the president of Azerbijan Ilham Aliyev also withdrew Eynulla Madatli from the post of Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine. The Ambassador’s son Anar Madatli, employee of the Azerbaijani embassy in Belgium, was among the supporters of Mammadov’s stance.
The reports about the Azerbaijan MFA employees’ dismissal followed Haqqin.az’s previous publication blaming Elmar Mammadyarov, the Foreign Minister of the country, for inaction. “How did the minister respond to his subordinates’ self-will, or to put it flatly, riot? In no way! I remind, exactly five staffers of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan supported ambassador Arif Mammadov’s opposition statement. And the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, is among them. And Mammadyarov did not fire any of them! Or, maybe Mammadyarov himself shares the ambassador’s position?” Haqqin.az writes.
Azerbaijani MP Hudrat Hasanguliyev also criticized the minister. “I have more than once criticized the minister and said that he is not in his place,” Hasanguliyev said. The Foreign Ministry has long had problems with management and discipline, that is why the government should take the necessary measures.
Meanwhile, the former ambassador Arif Mammadov does not lose time. He turned to one of the main critics of the Azerbaijani government, former Norwegian ambassador Steinar Gil, for support. “This is a SOS alarm! Arif Mammadov will be in Norway from June 29 to July 10. He needs the European journalists’ support.”
The scandal broke out in the Azerbaijani Foreign Office because on the next day after the fire in the new residential building took the lives of 15 people because of the low-quality siding, a top official from the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, Arif Mammadov, wrote on his Facebook, “This tragedy is every Azerbaijani’s pain and tragedy. No nation will stand this sort of shame and injustice. The officials get millions from the suffering of our people, and if they are not afraid of our people’s anger, let them be afraid of Allah’s anger!” This was what drove him into disgrace. Those who supported the Facebook post also got into “the suspect list.”
