Azerbaijani media attribute EU Office in Baku statements about boycotting European Games which it denies
The reports about the EU Office in Baku calling on EU member states to boycott the European Games in Baku are not true, a press release issued by the EU office reads, according to the information agency Turan.
The Office says it has no authority to recommend countries not to take part in that sporting event.
Turan says EU issued the statement after one of the Azerbaijani pro-government outlets reported about the Greek ambassador to Azerbaijan informing its government that none of the European states’ leaders will attend the opening ceremony of the European Games in Baku. He was allegedly told about it by the EU Office in Baku.
