Armenia to take measures to neutralize activity of Azerbaijani snipers in contact line - Defense Ministry
On October 14 at 7 p.m. the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire in the south-eastern sector of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani contact line, the NKR Defense Army reported. Serviceman of the NKR Defense Army Vitali Igityan, born in 1988, was shot dead by an Azerbaijani sniper.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia severely condemns Azerbaijan’s attempts to aggravate the situation along the contact line through snipers. Such actions of Azerbaijan taken immediately after the field assessment mission of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs show that Azerbaijan not only fails to follow UN Secretary General’s call to pull back the snipers from the line of contact, but also ignores the concerns of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and the Minsk Group Co-Chairs regarding Azerbaijan’s previous attempts to fail the efforts of the international community to solve the issue in a peaceful way.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense states that it will take corresponding military-diplomatic and military measures to neutralize the activity of the Azerbaijani snipers at the line of contact.
The Ministry of Defense extends deep condolences to the relatives of Vitali Igityan.
