D. Babayan: Best way to strengthen aggression is let aggressor go unpunished
“I think, generalize all processes, put those violating the cease-fire regime with those maintaining it on the same level makes the situation even more dangerous,” the head of the central information department of NKR President’s office, David Babayan, told Panorama.am commenting on EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby’s interview with Kommersant.
Semneby had said “it is necessary to strengthen the ceasefire regime on the front line where we have seen incidents and exchanges of fire in the past few months.”
“Putting aggressors and those maintaining the cease-fire regime on the same level has resulted in sharp growth of the cease-fire violation cases by Azerbaijan recently,” Babayan said.
The statements should have certain addressees and not be generalized; otherwise these would only harm the peaceful settlement process of the conflict, he noted.
“The best method to strengthen aggression is let the aggressor go unpunished. Thus, putting both sides on the same level makes the situation even worse. Unfortunately, Semneby and many European organizations don’t see this or perhaps they just don’t want to see,” D. Babayan concluded.
