Armenia hands Azerbaijani captive, returns M. Saribekyan's body
In accordance with the agreement reached during the meeting in Astrakhan between the Presidents of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, today the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who illegally crossed the Armenian border in 2010 has been returned to the Azerbaijani side on the north-eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line, on the Ijevan-Ghazakh road sector. In exchange, Armenian side was handed the body of the Armenian killed shepherd Manvel Saribekyan.
Note that on October 27 the three Presidents reached a humanitarian agreement in Astrakhan on exchange of captives and bodies of those killed.
On September 12 Azerbaijan spread information stating that from northern-eastern sector of Artsakh (the same sector, in the direction of which Azerbaijan carried out subversive activities on July 18, August 31 and September 4 this year), Armenians penetrated into territories under Azerbaijan’s control on September 11 and attempted sabotage. Azerbaijan said the Armenian side failed the sabotage, and they have taken Manvel Mamikoni Saribekyan a hostage.
NKR Defense Army followed with a statement refuting the information and stating there is no soldier with this name serving in this sector of Artsakh. As it appeared on September 13 a resident of Ttujur village, Siranush Balyan, told Chambarak police office of Gegharkunik province, that her son, Manvel Mamikoni Saribekyan (born 27.02.1990), left home for “Keghut” mountainous part of Tavoush, situated in Armenian-Azerbaijani border line, in searches for the cattle on September 11 at around 7.30 p. m. local time and is still missing.
