Russia marks Day of Solidarity against Terrorism
On September 3rd Russia marks Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism, Voice of Russia reported.
This day is dedicated to the tragic events that took place from September 1st to the 3rd, 2004 in the town of Beslan.
As a result of an unprecedented terrorist attack more than three hundred people, mostly women and children were viciously killed.
The gunmen then took school children hostage, mined the building and subsequently detonated a bomb.
The Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism symbolizes the unity of the state and society in the fight against this terrible scourge.
The last major attack on the territory of the Russian Feeration took place in Moscow in January 2011 at Domodedovo airport where 37 people were killed and more than 120 were injured and had to be hospitalized.
In 2011 security services prevented 94 terrorist attacks, eliminated 48 terrorist leaders, including three emissaries of "Al-Qaeda", and liquidated 297 active members of terrorist groups.
660 terrorists have been arrested to date.
