Edward Nalbandian responds to Turkish FM’s statement
Armenia’s foreign policy is directed to establishment and development of cooperation with all countries, but cooperation can be possible only with those who are ready for it, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a joint press conference with Latvian FM Edgars Rinkēvičs.
His comment came in response to the question about Armenia’s position on Turkish Foreign Minister’s call to Armenia to start cooperating with its neighbors.
“Is it possible to cooperate with a country that refuses to establish diplomatic relations with Armenia, keeps the borders closed, and pursues aggressive policy of Armenian Genocide denial?” said Nalbandian.
According to the diplomat, when Turkey becomes ready to face its own history, move forward, fulfill its commitments, and accept the hand Armenia has extended, then it will be possible to develop the relations between the two countries.
Nalbandian recalled the view of the international community that the ball is in Turkey’s court.
