UN officials appreciate service of Armenian peacekeepers, stress importance of Armenia as partner
A delegation headed by First Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia David Tonoyan is on a working visit in the United States from July 27 to 31. The press service of Defense Ministry said that on July 27 David Tonoyan and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia in UN, Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with the UN Assistant Secretary General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations Dmitry Titov and the UN Secretary General Chief of Staff of the Military Officer, Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed.
During the meetings David Tonoyan stated that Armenia will continue being actively involved in the international security operations and will increase its assistance to the peacekeeping missions of the United Nations.
The officiasl of the UN highly appreciated the service of Armenian peacekeepers as part of UNIFIL and said that partners like Armenia are necessary in peacekeeping missions.
During the working visit to the U.S. the delegation led by D. Tonoyan will attend Armenia-US military consultations and hold meetings with representatives of the US Department of Defense, the State Department, and the National Security Council.
