Agriculture minister: Installation of anti-hail stations continues in Armenia
Armenian agriculture would have achieved a high rate of economic growth this year, but for the damage caused by hail, Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan told a press conference today.
78 communities have been hit by hailstorms this year, with overall damage amounting to about 7 billion drams, he said.
Nevertheless, the damage caused by hail this year is half the amount of damage last year, the minister said.
According to S. Karapetyan, 80 more anti-hail stations were installed in Armenia in 2014, and the process continues this year.
The agriculture minister at the same time urged farmers to introduce modern efficient means of protecting crops from hailstorms, in particular he called on them to use anti-hail nets.
