Naira Zohrabyan: Women in Armenia don’t work not because they are lazy
The parliamentary faction of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) will endorse the bill on amendments to the Law on State Benefits, although the document does not deal with all the problems in that area, the leader of PAP faction Naira Zohrabyan said during debates of the bill at the extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly today.
In her words, the law shall protect interests of working and non-working mothers. “Mothers are unemployed not because there is a wide choice of jobs, but they are lazy. Unemployment is high in the country,” N. Zohrabyan said, urging MPs to uphold the principle of equity.
She said that PAP faction is prepared to introduce again the bill on monthly allowances to non-working mothers. The bill drafted by PAP was rejected at the time.
