Azerbaijani religious leader Allahshukur Pashazadeh’s Sweden visit turns out failure
Allahshukur Pashazadeh, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, failed to meet any high-ranking official of Sweden during his visit to that country. Only the minister of Culture, Alice Bah Kuhnke, and the head of the Parliamentary Committee on the Constitution, Andreas Norlén, received the religious leader of the Azerbaijanis.
The meeting with Margot Wallström, the Foreign Minister of the country, reported earlier by the Azerbaijani media, did not take place. The representatives of the Swedish clergy did not meet him either on unknown reasons.
Moreover, except for the Turkish ambassador and the head of the CIS department of the Foreign Ministry of Sweden, no officials attended the conference on ‘Multiculturalism and inter-religious tolerance: the experience of Azerbaijan and its significance for Europe,’ which took place in Stockholm.
Judging by the circulated photos, the event happened in a half-empty hall planned for 50 guests. Most probably, this can be the reason why the Azerbaijani media gave an extremely poor coverage of Allahshukur Pashazadeh’s Sweden visit.
