Man who loved his nation with all his heart: Monte Melkonian’s birthday is today
Today is the birthday of Monte ‘Avo’ Melkonian, a National Hero of Armenia.
National Hero of Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Monte Melkonian was born on November 25, 1957 in Visalia, California to Charles (1918−2006)[ and Zabel Melkonian (1920−2012). The parents were survived by their son who made their family famous. M. Melkonian died on June 12, 1993 in Artsakh.
M. Melkonian’s biography includes many heroic deeds. In 1996 Monte Melkonian was posthumously awarded the honorary title of ‘National Hero of Armenia. For his services to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, in 1999 he was awarded the highest title ‘Hero of Artsakh’ and the Order of the Gold Eagle.
Monte Melkonian was described as a “man who loved his nation with all his heart”.
