Mikael Melkumyan calls 2015 a year of trials for Prosperous Armenia Party
MP of opposition ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction of the Armenian parliament Mikael Melkumyan considered 2015 that draws to a close as a year of trials for Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP).
“We need to ensure a healthy atmosphere of competitive political relations in Armenia. Time will show whether or not we will manage to do so,” he said at a press conference today . PAP remains committed to the provisions of its program, the deputy added.
In his words, the PAP organizations are currently strong, and only a few members quit the party.
To remind, at the 8th extraordinary congress of Prosperous Armenia Party held in March 2015, the leader of PAP Gagik Tsarukyan announced his decision to quit active politics and resign as the leader of PAP and the head of ‘Prosperous Armenia’ parliamentary faction. He proposed Armenian MP, member of ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction Naira Zohrabyan as the leader of the party. During a regular session of the Armenian parliament on March 23, the head of ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction Naira Zohrabyan said that PAP faction decided to go into opposition.
