Russian snipers conducting exercises in Armenia’s mountains
Training with involvement of about 100 servicemen of the Russian 102nd Military Base kicked off at the Kamhud high-mountainous ground in Armenia. As the press service of the Southern Military District of Russian Defense Ministry reports, snipers are due to participate in the tactic-special exercises.
The servicemen will pay special attention to target reconnaissance and identification, tactic and firing exercises in conditions of high-mountainous terrain.
Trainings are to be conducted in the evening and at nighttime by the use night vision equipment.
In the course of the training, sniper contest as well as exam on firing standards are to be taken.
To remind, Russian 102nd Military Base was deployed in Armenian town Gyumri in 1995. The base hosts S-300 anti-aircraft missiles and MiG-29 jets. In 2014 the protocol extending the presence of a Russian military base in Armenia until 2044 was signed between the two states. There are estimated 5,000 Russian soldiers stationed at the Base.
