“I can’t say how the negotiations are progressing, what agreements are being made. What I hear from the Azerbaijani side, is perhaps partly imitation, a psychological pressure, yet it seems they are content with the recent communications. The outcomes of the negotiations are favourable for them,” member of parliament, Lyudmila Sargsyan said during a briefing.

In the meantime, she isn’t inclined to think that this is just due to Russian and Azerbaijani agreements, if there is such a thing in the first place.

“I have an impression that the U.S. is in the same mood. Usually they force the weaker one to make concessions. In this case, Azerbaijan has huge financial resources. Russia, the U.S., Great Britain and many European countries have oil and gas interests connected with Azerbaijan,” the politician said.

According to her, even though having huge scientific and human potential, Armenia is caught in a difficult situation with closed borders, Karabakh conflict and the pressure inflicted on the country. “I wish that the Karabakh conflict isn’t resolved yet. I wish the status quo to be maintained, which is exactly what Azerbaijan and the co-chair countries are trying to change. If the status quo is maintained, we will have stronger leadership, which would also strengthen the nation. This could result in better economic and political status”.

The politician thinks that Azerbaijan won’t agree on anything, as they cannot force Armenia to make any compromise in terms of Artsakh. “That’s obvious. They will try, but they won’t succeed”.
According to her, Russia is well aware that Azerbaijan isn’t a reliable partner.
