Ruling party calls for love and tolerance in wake of the armed incident

Today, the issue of utmost importance is to resolve the situation through negotiations, Eduard Sharmazanov, Press Speaker of the ruling Republican Party (RPA), Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly told reporters at a briefing, while commenting on the standoff emerged after the seizure of the patrol police regiment in Yerevan.

To his words, National Security Service periodically reports the public and the media about the situation.

“Enforcement agencies have sought one ultimate goal  - to resolve the grave situation without any bloodshed, through peaceful means,” Sharmazanov noted.

The RPA press speaker justified the absence of any reaction from the authorities by the ongoing negotiations and the desire not to harm the process.

“The moment is quite nervous. May God help the love and tolerance triumph. I belief in the victory of conscience, tolerance from all the sides, and we may avoid another bloodshed. We needn’t new bloodshed. We have no enemies in Armenia, since all are our brothers and sisters. The issue of utmost importance is to resolve the situation peacefully. This is the official position of the Republican Party,” Sharmazanov noted, declining any further comments on the domestic politics and possible causes beyond the armed incident.

Sharmazanov also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased Police Colonel Arthur Vanoyan.

“That was a tragedy, we lost one of the defenders of our nation – the one who has served to the motherland nowadays and during the Artsakh war,” Sharmnazanov said.
