Teacher: In Javakhk Armenian is pushed aside
The high school students actively participate in the school Olympiad held in Javakhk, but they do not have great expectations, as according to them the translations of the Olympiad questions are composed with mistakes. Jnews.ge reports.
Schoolchildren from over 1700 in Georgia have expressed readiness to take part in National Educational Olympiad. Upon the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science the Olympiad has been held in Georgia since 2009. Students of 10-12 grades have the right to participate in the competition. The Olympiad is organized in three rounds and the winners are given a chance to take part in the International Olympiad. In Georgia the Olympiad is held once in a year in the Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian languages.
Arthur has taken part in the olympiads of mathematics and the Georgian language.
"20 questions were included in the mathematics and 40 questions in the Georgian language tests. The Georgian language was difficult as the questions were composed in accordance with the educational program of the schools specialised in the Georgian language ," Arthur, who acquired 7 out of 20 points in the mathematics subject, noted.
The sourse mentioned that the Olympiads are organized for all the subjects except the Armenian language and literature.
"They take all the possible measures to push aside the Armenian language. Why there is an Olympiad of French or German languages, but not of Armenian?. This fact might develop an abstract approach in a student towards the subject. They naturally do not learn their mother tongue. We keep asking to involve Armenian in the list of examination subjects, but our calls remain up in the air," Armenian Language and Literature teacher Anahit Grigoryan noted.
