Lithuania-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group established
Following the parliamentary elections held in Lithuania on 9 October 2016, with a second round held on 23 October, parliamentary friendship groups were established in the country’s 141-seat Seimas.
To note, 71 in single-member constituencies were elected by majority vote and the remaining 70 in a nationwide constituency based on proportional representation.
A parliamentary friendship group of Lithuania-Armenia in the Seimas was among the established group comprising 47 MPs.
Povilas Urbshis, leader of the Peasant of Green Party that won the elections in the majoritarian system, became the head of the newly-formed friendship group.
To note, Lithuania –Armenia friendship group is the third by number of MPs, after the similar groups of Lithuania-Poland (49) and Lithuania-Georgia (48).
