Azerbaijan suffers consecutive defeats both during the April war and in recent days, political scientist says
“Azerbaijan is turning into an unbridled nation through the course of time, which is partially prompted by the OSCE Minsk Group,” Armenian political scientist Alexander Manasyan expressed such an opinion during today’s press conference turning to the current tension in the Nagorno-Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact, Panorama.am reports.
“If you remember, James Warlick repeatedly stated that the status quo is unacceptable and must be changed. Currently Azerbaijan takes it as a milestone,” the political scientist said.
Political scientist Alexander Manasyan noted that the recent developments in the frontline, as well as the ones during the April four-day war come to show that Azerbaijan suffers consecutive defeats, however this does not mean that the country will stop adding its military arsenal.
In the words of Alexander Manasyan, Armenia must actively take measures in the fields of diplomacy and propaganda. In his words, the language of discourse must be changed.
According to the political scientist, the principles set by the Minsk Group as a basis for the settlement of the conflict presuppose that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not an internal issue of Azerbaijan. “We should have voiced about it a long time ago, however, thanks to God, it was made clear by the foreign minister of one of the Co-chairing countries,” he said.
To note, at a final press conference held in Moscow, an Azerbaijani reporter asked Russian FM Sergey Lavrov whether or not “Russia will interfere in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan if it begins to liberate its occupied territories”. In response, Lavrov noted that the NKR conflict settlement “is not an issue entirely referring to the internal affairs of Azerbaijan” adding that there are number of decisions over the NKR conflict.
In the words of political scientist Alexander Manasyan, the Russian media outlets have not much criticized Lavrov’s statement as it was a fact overtly addressed to Azerbaijan and which dismisses all other arguments of Baku. The political scientist thinks that Armenia must use that provision in the political and media spheres.
Turning to the visit paid to Brussels by the RA President Serzh Sargsyan and his statements made there, Alexander Manasyan said that the Armenian president highlighted an important matter during the visit. “In addition to it, Donald Tusk also noted that the status quo is unsustainable. It implied that status quo must be stabilized before the settlement of the NKR conflict,” the expert underscored.
