Today I woke up with pain and pride – Movses Hakobyan
“Today I woke up with pain and pride in my heart. I feel pain as we did not manage to prevent it [the large-scale military actions launched by Azerbaijan] and suffered human losses. Meantime I am proud that today’s generation managed to prove that they are the masters of this country and they fulfilled the mission of the protection of our country with an honour,” Chief of the GS of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Movses Hakobyan told reporters after laying flowers on the graves of Monte Melkonyan and the April war victims at Yerablur Pantheon.
Asked what changes are observed after the April war, Movses Hakobyan noted that many things have changed in a year. “First of all the changes refer to the assessment of the situation, the detection of the adversary’s actions and the implementation of preventive measures,” he said.
In the words of Movses Hakobyan, today the society has changed its views on the claims that only the older generation can win. “Today’s generation fulfils its duties better than we did,” he added.
The Lieutenant-General said that starting from 1988 Azerbaijan has never refrained from thumbing its nose. “Their political leadership is always threatening Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia. However in honour of our people and due to the boys who are buried at Yerablur, Azerbaijan has never succeeded and, I believe, will never succeed in the future,” Hakobyan concluded.
