“A significant growth in inbound tourism sector amounting to over 25 percent was registered in Armenia in the second quarter of 2017,” Chairman of the Armenian Hotel Association (AHA), Hakob Hakobyan said at a press conference on Friday.

In the speaker’s words, the tourism flows into Armenia continue to increase from Iran and Arab countries. Mr. Hakobyan did not share the views that Armenia has little to offer to the tourists.

“Yerevan is a very beautiful city, which has many attractions for the foreign tourists. In general, people are satisfied with entertainment center visits in the capital and the local brandy and food tasting. In addition to tours to churches and cultural sites, the tourists are also offered adventure and rural tourism,” Hakob Hakobyan noted, expressing regrets that the Old Yerevan does not exist anymore, otherwise it would attract a greater tourist flows.

Marine Kpryan, the Vice President of Tour Operators Association of Armenia, present at the press conference, in her turn noted that many hotels in Armenia cannot accommodate a large groups of tourists due to their small sizes.

She stated that they do their utmost to attract not only old but also young tourists, ensuring an interesting leisure for the latter.

Gevorg Avetisyan, the co-founder of the EPIC International Summer School/Camp, reflected on an interesting project in educational tourism, which is implemented in cooperation with Armenia Travel Company.

“In the previous year 100 students visited Armenia in the framework of the educational tourism. This year more students will arrive. Mainly tourists aged 50-60 visit Armenia and our goal is to bring also young men and students to Armenia for them to know Armenia better and spread information about our country. A summer school-camp will be held on August 1-21 in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, within the framework of the educational tourism project. The school will bring together 200 foreign students, 50-100 students from Diaspora and 50 students from the Armenian universities. The full package of the summer school-camp costs 250 AMD for the local students, with the fee totalling to 970 euros for the foreigners,” the speaker concluded.
