Four Armenians among the victims of Sochi fire
Four Armenians have reportedly been killed in a fire at a residential building in the Russian resort city of Sochi, according to the data of the Consulate of Armenia in the city.
“The information whether they hold Armenian citizenship is currently checked,” Panorama.am was told at the foreign ministry.
As reported earlier the fire erupted at around six o’clock on Monday morning in a land plot owned by the state-owned Russian Railways company. An unnamed Sochi administration spokesperson told Interfax news agency the fire may have been caused by a neighboring barbecue grill. According to preliminary data, eight hired workers from CIS countries were killed.
Two people were hospitalized with burn wounds, while a third is receiving medical help after jumping out of the building’s second floor.
Regional investigators said they have opened a criminal case into negligent homicide.
