New Yerevan mayor to be sworn in on Saturday
The inauguration of Hayk Marutyan as Mayor of Yerevan is slated for Saturday, October 13, at 12am, at a sitting of the Yerevan City Council.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place in the Yerevan Municipality, spokesperson Sergey Makaryan said at today’s inaugural City Council sitting.
Invitations have been sent to high-ranking officials, political, public, cultural and religious figures, as well as honorary guests to attend the inauguration ceremony, he detailed.
Marutyan, a famous comic actor, led the My Step bloc to win a landslide victory in the 23 September snap elections to the City Council. The bloc garnered 81,05% of the votes to take 57 seats in the council.
Two other forces represented in the City Council are Prosperous Armenia Party (5 seats) and Luys (Light) bloc (3 seats).
