Artsakh confirms reduced tensions across the borderline following Aliyev, Pashinyan agreement
Following the oral agreement between Armenian PM and Azerbaijani president in Dushanbe the number of ceasefire violation incidents decreased across the Line of Contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, Davit Babayan, the head of information department at Artsakh President’s Office told Panorama.am.
Babayan agreed with remarks by the Chair of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev about the reduced tension on the borderline. “This is indeed encouraging but at the same time we should consider we are dealing with Azerbaijan which never should be trusted. Azerbaijan has violated agreed arrangements, internationally arranged documents and agreements, the UN Charter on numerous occasions in the past,” Babayan explained. In this regard, he referred to the fresh anti-Armenian statements delivered by Aliyev today.
To remind, Pashinyan announced that arrangements aimed at reducing tensions across the Artsakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact were obtained with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the scope of the Summit of Council of CIS Head of States in Dushanbe.
Among agreements were the instruction to ministers of defense to take concrete measures to reduce tensions and prevent border incidents. as well as establishing direct operative communication channel between the two leaders.
