Armenian government approves action plan for UN resolution on women, peace, and security
The Armenian government approved a draft decision on the 2019-2021 national action plan for the implementation of the Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security and its timeframes.
The resolution addresses the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women, stresses the importance of women’s equal and full participation as active agents in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, peace-building and peacekeeping.
According to the decision, the action plan will not only coordinate the work previously done in this area but will also create an opportunity for receiving financial support both from various countries and the UN fund created for the resolution.
The program will step up Armenia’s role as a country struggling for women's role and peace in the international arena.
