Tsarukyan says people should decide on Amulsar
While making a decision on mining operations at Amulsar people’s opinion should be taken into account, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan told reporters on Monday.
“If people are living and will live there, how can their opinion not be taken into account? Today the power belongs to the people and it’s for them to make a decision,” he said.
Asked what will happen if the government allows the mine operation by ignoring people’s opinion, Tsarukyan said: “It won’t lead to anything good. How can we disregard the opinion of the people?"
“But I think the authorities come to see that there are problems and have started thorough discussions. Today the government is facing a serious issue. Authorities don’t want to offend people, so a complete study must be carried out and presented to the people to reach a common ground," he added.
