Seyran Ohanyan: Artsakh ceasefire deal 'very bad document placed before our people’
A very complicated military-political situation has developed around Armenia and Artsakh in the region, thus stopping the war at the military's proposal was the right move under the circumstances, former Artsakh and Armenian Defense Minister, Hero of Artsakh Seyran Ohanyan said in an interview with 168.am.
“But all this testifies to a defeat by the state rather than the armed forces. A very bad document is placed before our people, and the incumbent authorities should bear the responsibility for it. It is up to the people themselves to determine the scale of responsibility,” Ohanyan said.
Asked to comment on the possible solutions, Ohanyan attached importance to "organized public administration under any circumstances as the only way out of a difficult situation.”
Referring to the opposition rally organized by 17 political forces in Yerevan, the ex-defense minister said: "The people demand an explanation. Therefore, the incumbent authorities, the National Assembly – given the fact that we are also a parliamentary country – must give an explanation to the people.”
The source reminds that from the very first days of the war unleashed against Artsakh by the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem on September 27, Seyran Ohanyan headed to Artsakh, where he was actively involved in the tactical organization of the self-defense battles for Shushi.
17 political forces continue rallying in Yerevan to protest against the proposed handover of territories and the signing of the document “by Nikol Pashinyan's sole decision.”
