Police detain citizens at Liberty Square as opposition forces hold a rally
The rally organised by 17 political parties of Armenia is to start at Liberty Square in Yerevan. The situation is tense at the scene, as the Armenian police tries to stop opposition supporters from gathering.
Earlier, the Police warned against organizing, holing and attending gatherings and public events amid the martial law in the country which has been declared since September 27.
"No explanation, they just detain us," one of the rally participants said.
According to reports, among the detained citizens are political scientist Vardan Voskanyan, members of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Eduard Sharmazanov, Mihran Hakobyan, Karine Achemyan, and others.
On Tuesday, 17 political forces of Armenia issued a joint statement, calling on citizens to join a rally at Liberty Square where they will present ways to overcome the occurred situation after what they described 'a traitorous armistice' was secretly signed by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
