Housing program for homeless families in the earthquake zone to complete this year
The housing program in the disaster zone of Spitak earthquake launched through state funds in 2008 is planned to complete this year, the head of the Housing policy and communal infrastructure department of the state committee of urban development told a press conference on Monday.
Arzumanyan reminded, the lists of the beneficiary families had been collected and assessed by local authorities and initially comprised 5,406 families. The representative of the state committee noted that the number may increase a group of citizens are currently challenging to restore their right to benefit from the program in court. The main beneficiaries of the program are residents of Lori, Shirak and Aragatsotn provinces.
In Arzumanyan's words, in 2008-2017, 4,838 families out of the total 5406 have solved their housing issue either through housing construction or provision of financial assistance. In 2019, 560 mln AMD have been allocated to the program, and the housing construction for 61 families are underway.
The amount allocated to beneficiaries who had chosen to receive financial assistance, amounted for 1.29 billion AMD.
The final stage of the program was launched in 2020. Some 5 billion AMD from the budget was allocated for the construction of the apartments. There are 229 beneficiary families for the final phase. The total budget of the program over the past three years amounted for 5.3 bln AMD, according to the representative of the state committee.
