"We are living through a decisive and major historical moment. 'Resurgent Armenia' party has committed to give a new birth to our tormented, desperate motherland which is further slipping into the abyss," the head of Sisian community Artur Sargsyan stated on Wednesday. Sargsyan's remarks came at the 'Resurgent Armenia' party convention. The new political force comprised of heads of communities of Armenia's Syunik province is set to participate in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.
"Yes, Syunik remains the base for our force, yet our struggle is not for Syunik but for our national ideology and our secure future. The revolutionary rhetoric of the forces which have declared themselves as authorities as well as their destructive populism have been exhausted. The absence of economic reforms, the failure of the struggle against corruption and new explicit expressions of corruption have now become their face," said Sargsyan.
In his words, Syunik residents proved that whenever the matter refers to the motherland, they stand up with dignity and get consolidated.
Resurgent Armenia' party has united people with dignity. I am sure it will not become just another party. There would be no empty promises, and we would never voice about things we are not aware, instead reach our goals step by step.
The Mayor of Sisian town stressed that the primary challenge Armenia faces today remains the security.
"Any vision we may have is pointless if the basic issue of security is not solved. Our aim is to contribute to the security of our country, territorial integrity, political status and strengthening of its defense capabilities. Our aim is the long-term cooperation with diplomatic partners. We realize and are ready to assume the responsibility for ensuring the security of our country. Armenia will be reborn," said Sargsyan.
