With the arrival of Russian peacekeepers on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), local residents felt safe and under reliable protection, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

In accordance with the decision of the Russian Defense Minister, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, 27 observation posts were deployed on the contact line, which ensure the safe movement of residents and transport, the return of refugees to their own homes.

The Russian Center for Humanitarian Response conducted more than 2 thousand humanitarian actions with the issuance of basic necessities, food packages, medicines with a total weight of more than 30.2 tons to those in need.

Russian peacekeepers assisted in the resumption of the educational process in 13 schools, where more than 6 thousand schoolchildren returned to classes.

Russian military medics provided medical assistance to more than 1,500 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. 2,810 kg of essential medicines, septic tanks, dressing materials and other property were issued to hospitals and rural medical centers. More than 600 units of various medical equipment have been transferred to city hospitals.

Thanks to the activities of Russian peacekeepers to ensure security in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 80 km of power transmission lines and more than 30 transformer substations have been restored, which made it possible to provide electricity to 63 settlements.

Fourteen settlements are provided with water thanks to the construction of new water highways.

More than 1,750 pilgrims were accompanied to the temples located in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation line.

In total, since November 23, 2020, Russian military engineers and specialists of the International Mine Action Center have cleared 2165 hectares of territory, 657.3 km of roads, 1,892 buildings, including 30 socially significant objects, 25,640 explosive objects have been found and neutralized from unexploded ordnance.
