Armenian expert outlines steps to create atmosphere of trust in country
Karen Vrtanesyan, a security expert and coordinator of the military news website Razminfo, stresses the need for an atmosphere of trust in Armenia to counter the threats facing the country.
In a public post on Facebook on Monday, he said the continuous meetings which followed his call for the setup of a national coordinating body have revealed society’s widespread distrust in political forces as well as distrust among political figures.
“Naturally, in such a situation Nikol [Pashinyan] will be prime minister for life or will remain in power as long as there is still something left in Armenia to surrender,” Vrtanesyan said.
“However, building mutual trust is quite realistic, and there are specific techniques which have proven effective. All the more so when all parties become aware of the real threat facing us all from the outside,” the expert stated.
He outlined several steps towards trust building, including adoption of principles around which there is no disagreement.
“For instance, "Artsakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan” or "Nikol does not represent the interests of the Armenian people and must be removed”, and others,” Vrtanesyan said.
The expert also called for establishment of personal contacts between those who share the principles and the start of small, “partly symbolic and partly practical” actions.
“The primary task of the national coordinating body that we talked about is the national mobilization. The three steps listed are aimed at it,” he noted.
