Armenian defense minister briefs US official on border situation
Armenia’s Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan on Thursday met with US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl at the Pentagon.
Armenian Ambassador to the US Lilit Makunts was also present at the meeting, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The meeting addressed the entire agenda of Armenian-US defense cooperation. The sides agreed to deepen cooperation in peacekeeping mission, military education, military medicine and other areas.
At the request of the American side, Papikyan briefed Colin Kahl on the military-political situation around Armenia, including the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“The parties highlighted efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace and stability in the region. Global security issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting,” the statement said.
