D. Babayan: 2010 assessed successful for Artsakh
“2010 can be assessed as an intensive year for both domestic and foreign affairs of Artsakh. First, I would like to state that domestic affairs are of great significance for us, as irrespective of any foreign activities, the powerful NK economy is the powerful will be our arguments at negotiations. We adopted this slogan for 2010,” David Babayan, the head of NKR President’s PR department told Panorama.am.
Referring to political events that were carried out in Artsakh, D. Babayan pointed Parliamentary elections in Artsakh, which was perfectly assessed by the international watchdogs.
According to him a range of important projects were held in economic field – construction of hydro-stations.
D. Babayan signified the construction of Airport, the construction of which is in its final phase and some technical obstacles remain to be settled.
Artsakh official said that agriculture, water supply issues have also been focused during the year.
“In this respect telethon 2010 which was dedicated to develop water infrastructures can be signified. Armenians all over the world – in Diaspora, Armenia and Artsakh acted intensively,” D. Babayan said.
According to the official, events in the foreign field were rather predictable: “There appeared some emotional speeches by experts and columnists. Some of them expected quick developments, but we think that grounds for the soonest settlement of the conflict still lack.”
He said a highlight of the year was that Armenian diplomacy managed to leave with honor the process of normalizing ties with Turkey, and did it with victory.
“Armenia did not allow Artsakh issue to be linked with Armenian-Turkish ties, and the stability was protected. Some incidents were recorded in the line of contact, but they did not impact on the general stability.
Azerbaijan could understand that any instigation would leave destroying consequences for them.
President of Artsakh had many meetings in United States. I would signify the meeting with the Governor of Los Angeles.”
He said Artsakh hosted many foreign delegations this year.
“I would like to cite Slovakia’s first leader Mikloshko’s words who said that the fate of Europe is defined in Artsakh. Hague Court decision over Kosovo issue is of another great significance for us. These are things which predict 2011 for us,” D. Babayan said.
