G. Minasyan: Davutoglu simply lies having no moral right
“Referring to Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s statements over the ratification of Armenian-Turkish protocols some observations need to be made. First, Davutoglu said Turkey hadn’t made the first step of suspending the process. That is absolutely false. He’s simply lying. Soon after signing the protocols Turkey started speaking the language of preconditions. Thus, I think they will fail to confuse the international community, particularly, Armenian-Turkish communities. If there is a regress, then it’s because of the Turkish party,” Gagik Minasyan, the head of Armenian delegation to BSEC and NA Deputy told Panorama.am.
It’s worth reminding that the Turkish official said: “Ties with Armenia won’t be returned to the phase before signing the protocols. And that is linked with smoothing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations,” Davutoglu said adding that Turkey faces difficulties in its path to democracy, while Armenia has incomplete democracy.
“Mister Davutoglu said that the relations won’t be like the phase before signing the protocols, and I could agree with him. If we have what we have now, the situation will become even worse,” deputy said.
“Davutoglu thinks that to advance the bilateral relations, Armenian-Azerbaijani ties need to be improved also. So this is again about the preconditions. If Turkey heads preconditions in talks with us, we also could have preconditions, particularly, the recognition of Armenian Genocide, stopped the massacre of its own people, I mean the Kurds, be constructive in Cyprus issue and a range of other similar conflicts. If one side speaks the language of preconditions, the international community should record it and understand that Turkey isn’t intended to ratify them,” G. Minasyan said.
The Deputy continued saying: “Well, speaking about the democracy, I would say, a country which stipulates war against its people, who arrests those who speak about Armenian Genocide, has no moral right to assess the democracy in other countries, particularly in Armenia.”
