Saudi Arabia drafts new Syria resolution
Saudi Arabia has drafted a new Syria resolution for the UN Security Council, the Voice of Russia reported.
The draft supports the Arab League settlement plan that demands that President Bashar al-Assad should step down to end the 11 month-long violence.
The new resolution closely echoes the draft that the delegation of Morocco had earlier submitted to the Security Council. Russia and China blocked the Moroccan draft during the voting on February 4th.
Moscow insists that a resolution on Syria should contain no demand that it is only the Syrian government that should cease fire in what would make it possible for the other party to the conflict to seize power in the regions.
