Azerbaijan in same rank with Zambia, Cameroon, and Arab countries refusing to study Holocaust
School educational programs in 28 countries of the world fail to provide the students with information about the mass extermination of the Jews. Azerbaijan, together with Zambia, Cameroon, Egypt, and Iraq, appears to be one of these countries, Israeli Cursor info news agency reports citing the results of a research carried out by UNESCO and German Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research.
The agency notes that Hamas categorically opposes to studying the European Jews Catastrophe in schools working under the aegis of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The agency informs that according to representatives of the Hamas’s refugee affairs department, teaching the Holocaust is a “crime against refugees, which aims at the abolition of their right to return.”
According to the leaders of the movement ruling in the Gaza Strip, children in UNRWA schools do not need materials about the Holocaust.
The report does not explain the reasons why non-Arab countries, especially Azerbaijan, have refused to study the Holocaust.
It is noted in the report that the study of the tragedy of the Jewish nation is contained in educational programs of 57 countries.
