OSCE Minsk Group format proves ineffective in Karabakh conflict settlement – Gagik Harutyunyan
The United Nations does not work effectively and is subject to reforms, as evidenced by a rather inadequate and boastful speech delivered by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev from the podium of the UN General Assembly. In contrary to this, President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech was rather successful, Gagik Harutyunyan, Director of Noravank Foundation, told a news conference on Tuesday.
Mr. Harutyunyan did not rule out the possibility that former Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev could have bribed that structure years ago, like his son has bribed some of the political figures of the European institutions in recent years.
Reflecting on the latest statement of the OSCE Minsk Group over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, the speaker highlighted the format has proven ineffective in the conflict settlement.
Touching upon the Iraqi Kurdistan independence referendum and Armenia’s stance adopted on the issue, Gagik Harutyunyan stated Armenia should avoid ending up in a trap, pursuing cautious and balanced policies.
“As far as Turkey is concerned, the situation in that country does not allow it to take extensive steps against Iraqi Kurdistan, apart from threats. Turkey does not have the potential to take decisive steps,” the speaker concluded.
