The statue of the former Artistic Director of the A. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet Theater, RA People’s Artist Gegham Grigoryan will be unveiled In Komitas Pantheon in Yerevan on the occasion of his birthday anniversary on January 29.
The sculpture of the statue is People’s Artist of Georgia Teimuraz Murvanidze.

As the ministry of culture reports, the opening ceremony will be attended by RA Culture Minister Armen Amiryan, Ambassadors of Lithuania and Georgia to Armenia, state and public figures, intelligentsia representatives and the members of the creative group of the Spendiarian Opera and Ballet Theater.

To note, Grigorian passed away in March 2016.  He was born in 1951 Yerevan.  He graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, the class of People's Artist of Armenia professor Sergei Danielyan. Grigorian made his first appearance on the big stage in 1971 at 20; in 1972 he went to West Berlin to appear with solo concerts.

In 1975, he made his debut at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet of Armenia in the role of Edgar (opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Donizetti). This was followed by Saro (opera "Anush" by Tigranian), Tirith ("Arshak II" by Chukhajyan), Sayat Nova ("Sayat-Nova" by Harutyunyan), Count Almaviva ("The Barber of Seville" by Rossini), and Faust («Faust by Gounod.)

After ten years of abroad career Gegham Grigorian has been called one of the best tenors of the 20th century. Gegham Grigorian has been granted numerous awards and titles throughout his career for his dedication and services to the state.
